Justin Young Breaks Through with 2:13:52 at Rotterdam Marathon
(Rotterdam) After a disappointing US Olympic Marathon Trials in the fall, Justin Young (Superior, CO) would not give up. Young’s patience and effort were rewarded with his 2:13.52 13th place finish and nearly six-minute personal improvement at the Fortis Rotterdam Marathon in April.
 
Young  held strong over the second half after coming through the half marathon mark in 1:05. Click here to see video and photos of Justin’s finish and race in Rotterdam.
 
Bizuneh Back On Track With Three US Championship Top Finishes
(Flagstaff, AZ) Recovering well from his 13th place finish at the US Olympic Trials Marathon in November, Fasil Bizuneh has put himself back at the front over a series of spring US championships.  Bizuneh took 3rd at both the US 10k Championship in Richmond, VA on April 5th and the US 15k Championship in Jacksonville, FL on March 8th and was 5th at the US 8k in New York’s Central Park posting a time of 23:03.
NCAA Champion/Former Record Holder Herbst-Lucke Joins ADP
(Atlanta, GA) Stephanie Herbst-Lucke, a former multi-time NCAA champion and collegiate record holder at the University of Wisconsin has joined the American Distance Project.
 
Herbst-Lucke recently finished 10th at the US 15k Championship in Jacksonville, FL and took third at the 2007 US 25K Championship.
 
Bizuneh Earns Olympic “B”, Just Misses “A” Standard At Stanford
(Palo Alto, CA) Fasil Bizuneh easily qualified for the US Olympic Trials 10k at Stanford’s Payton Jordan Invite and in the process barely missed the Olympic “A” standard by less than a half second with a personal best of 27:50.48.
 
The mark was a 35-second personal best and ranks him as the #2 American so far this year.
 
Herbst-Lucke  Takes American Women’s Title and Master’s Women Title at Peachtree 10k Road Race
(Atlanta, GA) In her debut race with the American Distance Project, Stephanie Herbst-Lucke caught American Masters 10k record-holder Coleen DeReuck at the line to take 11th place overall with a time of 33:57 on the modified course.
Herbst-Lucke was the top American female as well as the top overall Master’s. The Atlanta resident also was top Georgian making it an unprecedented three-title sweep netting her $3000 in prize money.
Herbst-Lucke, who early on got caught behind the rush of male competitors, negative-splitted the 3-mile downhill then 3-mile uphill course.
ADP’s Justin Young returned to competition at Peachtree after taking downtime following his 2:13 marathon PR. Young finished 18th overall and was 3rd American.
Herbst-Lucke plans to race next at the Heart of the Summer 10k in   her native city of Minneapolis, MN in two weeks..
 
 
Bizuneh Takes 15th in US Olympic Trials 10,000m
(Eugene, OR) Fasil Bizuneh held on for 15th place at the US  Olympic Trials in Eugene, OR after covering the early races surges of eventual champion Abdi Abdirahman. Bizuneh entered the trials with the 3rd fastest time by an American in 2008 and the 8th seed. Bizuneh’s mark of 27:50.48 was less than a half second off of the Olympic A standard of 27:50, which forced him to push to insure the pace would be fast enough. Bizuneh will be back in action at the New York City Half marathon on July 27th.
